Sierra Bermeja

The turret or Hill of the square is the highest peak of the province of Malaga (1919 m) and is located in the Natural Park of the Sierra de las Nieves, which has an area of 20163 hectares. In 1995, UNESCO declared this saw ysu environment biosphere reserve. The biosphere reserve covers 93930 hectares. Faunistic and botanical wealth makes it a very special place. Highlights the presence of the Spanish FIR (Abies pinsapo), botanical jewel which only found in the Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja and Sierra del Pinar grazalema (Cadiz). There are several possible paths to reach the turret.

On this route we will depart from Yunquera, in the East of the Park. How to get: from Malaga take the A-357 in respect to bells. Take the detour towards Coin. The coin people we go to Alozaina and from Alozaina headed to Yunquera. In Yunquera we are going down the main street of the village and pass near the Tower of Arab origin who now serves as a park information point.

Before leaving the village we come to a roundabout that is next to a petrol station. At this roundabout take an output that goes downhill toward a campsite. We follow this road which passes through some areas of cultivation and some stables. The road later becomes a forest track. We must move very slowly in closed timelike curves there are taking care if cars coming in the opposite direction. We will move a barrier with a metal grate in the floor. Shortly after the road barrier splits. To the left is going to the viewpoint of Luis Ceballos and right to the viewpoint of the port of the Saucillo.
